I am a San Francisco-based, 29-year old freelance journalist. I spent much of last year running around the spectacular state of Utah in search of stories for a Salt Lake City weekly newspaper. Besides my Utah adventures, I have written for a variety of publications from the New York Times to The Point Reyes Light. I recieved my masters degree in journalism from New York University in 2006.
As of March 7th I am driving from LA to Nicaragua. While the trip’s route is somewhat vague, a simple and flexible outline has been set. With a couple of my friends from graduate school I plan to drive down Baja, take a ferry to Mazatlan and then drive along the coast. Then maybe inland, who knows. Besides a few stories I have planned for Oaxaca and Chiapas, this trip will set its own course.

Jonah! Great blog my friend. I had no idea you were traveling with Freda and Tim. Are you still in San Fran? That’s where I’m living after spending last year in New Zealand. Hit me up!
